Day-by-Day Itinerary
This 4-day guided trek takes you deep into the heart of Mount Mulanje, Malawi’s iconic “Island in the Sky.” You’ll journey across diverse landscapes, from lush tea plantations at the base to high-altitude plateaus and rocky summits. Each day brings a new adventure—crossing rivers, spotting rare plant species, and enjoying panoramic views from the mountain’s highest point. Nights are spent in cozy mountain huts, where you can relax and enjoy hearty meals prepared by your guides.
Meet up with guide at CCAP Likhubula House not later than 8:00 and after detailed briefing and equipment check, ascend to the top of Chambe plateau passing through the fairly shaded Miyombo or Branchestagear woodland Skyline Path arriving at overnight hut early afternoon. Lunch served en-route. Late afternoon optional stroll to nearby pool and returning to the hut before sunset. Overnight at Chisepo forest Hut.
Total hiking time: approximately 8 hours.
After breakfast in the morning , climb Sapitwa the highest peak in central Africa 3002 m above sea level in a clear day and have spectacular veaws which extend to Zomba plateau to the North and Lake Chirwa to the North West. Lunch saved at the base camp and afternoon proceed on the undulating terrain to Thuchila plateau passing through the patches rain forest
along the ridge of Peaks to the North East and visit the Elephant head sun set view point overnight at Thuchila forest Hut.
Total hiking time: approximately 8 hours.
Descend the Mountain to the Pickup point of descending passing through fairy-shaded Miombo woodland via Likulezi path to Tinyade. After lunch proceed and the debrief will be done at the Lodge.
